Don't Mess With Me
Gravadora: Queen Of Hearts
Brody Dalle's first true solo album is also her best record -- and it only took more than 10 years after the Distillers fell apart to pull it off. It glistens and pounds like Ministry gone pop, with Pro Tool industrial punk and Dalle's clarion growl at the top of the mix, loud and dirty. The hypnotic rai guitar hook of "Don't Mess With Me," glorious mariachi horns in "Underworld," low-key Shirley Manson epic "Meet the Foetus" and bombastic opener "Rat Race" provide a full rainbow of settings, but nothing will prepare you for "I Don't Need Your Love," a creepy six-minute piano lament.
